West Park 29 v 10 Old Modernians (HT 0-7) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mods' scorers: TRY Booth CON: Fraser PEN: Fraser Alistair Booth's try alone was worth the admission price - even if there had been an admission price! It was by far the outstanding try of the night and a strong candidate for try of the season. He was fed the ball 15 metres from touch in the Mods' half, used the outside space to skin his marker then repeated the trick on the full back; a couple more deft jinks later he'd completed his 60 metre solo touchdown. The last 20 minutes of the half was pretty much all hands to the pump but a combination of Mods' dogged tackling and sloppy handling by Park saw us reach the interval in front. A strong opening by Mods' to the second period unfortunately escaped point-less and Park's pressure mounted until our line was breached 5 minutes in. It wasn't until the 55th minute that they hit the front for the first time. A penalty apiece kept the margin to 5 points until the last 15 minutes when the score took on a lopsided look. A tremendous display by the Mods', highlighted by that try but also by some fierce hits in defence.
